The Director is a unique position dedicated to providing a positive, creative, and challenging environment at Zubaida Academy. He or she must constantly reflect and make adjustments to push school standards forward. The Director is the spokesperson for the school with all its internal and external constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni. The Director's responsibilities are varied and important including overall responsibility for board relations, school management, curriculum and instruction, student life, admission, and advancement..
CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION
Responsible for the academic curriculum, both core curriculum (PALCS), and special interest areas.
Uphold the academic and ethical standards of the school.
Hire, supervise, evaluate, and dismiss all administrators, faculty, and staff members.
Provide for the professional development and training of the faculty, as needed.
Supervise the selection of curricula, class schedules, assessments, graduation requirements, and all aspects of the school’s academic program, as per PALCS (state) requirements.
Optimize the physical learning environment and technology in all instructional areas.
Schedule parent teacher conferences throughout the year.
Organize student activities and extracurricular opportunities, clubs (i.e., robotics, money management, entrepreneurship).
Administer the school’s discipline policies and standards of conduct.
Supervise the school’s support systems, such as counseling, academic support, before- and after-school programs, college or secondary school counseling, health and wellness, etc. (as needed)
Oversee the school safety programs including building security, emergency procedures, transportation regulations, tornado and fire drills, etc.
Promote a healthy student culture in and out of school, in accordance with Islamic principles.
Optimize all-school gatherings including assemblies, sporting events, performances, etc.
Provide for character education and ethical teachings in keeping with the mission of the school.
Report student progress to parents on a timely and helpful basis.
OPERATIONS AND STAFFING
Oversee all employment and staffing needs, including interviewing, recruitment, and onboarding of new staff.
Create and manage class and teacher schedule.
Oversee the maintenance and cleaning of the buildings, equipment, and supplies.
Organize two board meetings per year: one prior to the school year, and the second at the end of the school year.
Plan and execute all major capital purchases, repairs, and building projects, with the approval of the board.
ADMISSIONS, MARKETING, FINANCIAL AID
Supervise and assist the admissions functions of the school, including recruitment programs, internal marketing, external outreach, information dissemination, and applicant testing and interviewing.
Supervise the admissions decision-making process, including administration of the school’s financial aid program.
Schedule open house 1-2 times per year.
Plan and optimize the school’s fundraising programs such as the annual fund, capital campaigns, planned giving, and major events.
Oversee the school’s relations with its alumni including development and maintenance of the alumni database, communications programs, and special events.
Oversee the school’s PTO program.
Must be available to act as a teacher/teaching assistant during school hours, as this is a start up position.
Teaching hours may be reduced as staff increases.
